Brad Goins, Editor of Lagniappe Magazine (Lake Charles, La) writes: “The lead singer and lead guitarist of THE MIGHTY SENSATIONAL OF LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA, are allowed to do their own things, while the backing players and singers are free to harmonize as they please. In these largely free-form cuts, Welcome often breaks into a mode in which he’s half singing, half preaching, to convincing effect. The quasi-preaching passages make frequent references to Welcome’s treasured spiritual experiences, especially those of his childhood.
Other cuts on the disc have a more structured sound reminiscent of 1950’s R&B. But whatever the style, all the music here is upbeat and energetic. Though there are songs that start off as slow ballads, they always develop into enthusiastic shoutouts.”
The Mighty Sensational of Lake Charles, La., have been spreading their musical message of the Gospel for many years. Members of the group are: Rev. Joseph Welcome - Lead Singer & Manager, Mack Richardson - Lead Singer, Edward Gatson - Lead Guitarist & Tenor, Paul Gatson - Bass Player and first Tenor, McKinly Lewis - Baritone & Secretary, Daryl Syes - Drummer.
